What is an eyeliner tattoo?
An eyeliner tattoo is a form of cosmetic tattooing, often called semi-permanent makeup, carried out by a trained technician. The pigment is entirely different from ordinary tattoo ink and is placed only in the upper layer of the skin, which means the colour softens and fades beautifully over time rather than turning hard and permanent, hence the name semi-permanent.
The result is an even, defined lash line that makes the eyes look larger and brighter. You choose the expression yourself, from a completely discreet filling in close to the lash line, which mostly looks like fuller lashes, to a clearer, more pronounced eyeliner. How the treatment works
An eyeliner tattoo is done at a calm pace and with careful preparation:
- Consultation and shape: we go through your wishes, choose the expression and draw the shape; you approve everything before we begin.
- Numbing: the area is numbed with a topical anaesthetic so the treatment is as comfortable as possible.
- Pigmentation: the pigment is worked in superficially along the lash line with precision.
- Result and aftercare: immediately afterwards the colour is darker and the area can be slightly swollen, which is entirely normal and settles within a few days. You leave with clear aftercare advice.
For the best and most durable result, a touch-up a few weeks later is usually included, where we top up and adjust according to how the skin has healed.

Preparation
Before your treatment
This is how you prepare for your eyeliner tattoo.
- Avoid blood thinners such as ibuprofen and aspirin, and alcohol, for 24 hours beforehand; it reduces swelling and helps the pigment settle. Never pause medication from a doctor without consulting them first
- Remove any lash extensions before the treatment, and pause lash serum a couple of weeks beforehand
- If you have had a lash lift, wait until it has grown out somewhat before an eyeliner tattoo
- Do not wear eye makeup on the day of the treatment, come with clean, makeup-free eyes
- Bring sunglasses, the eyes can water and be light sensitive straight afterwards
- After the treatment: the area is darker and can be slightly swollen for the first few days, then it flakes lightly and the colour lightens to its true result; do not pick at the flakes
- Avoid makeup on the area, sun, sauna, swimming and exercise until it has healed, and follow the aftercare advice you are given
